  Hylsamex Spin-Off
ALFA completed the Hylsamex spin-off by selling its remaining 42.5% stake to the Argentina-based Techint. At the same time, ALFA continued with it program of strengthening is core businesses---petrochemicals, food and autoparts. Nemak, for example, acquired the aluminum autoparts maker Rautenbach, of Germany, which is highly regarded throughout Europe and will allow Nemak to expand its presence on the continent. Alpek began construction of a new polystyrene line; one which will transform the Company into the largest producer in North America. Alpek also announce plans to add capacity at its PTA plant in the U.S. and to its PTA plant in Mexico.
